McLeod County

How does the Freedom to Breathe Law Affect the McLeod or Hutchinson Smoke Free Ordinance?

On October 1st, all workplaces in Minnesota were required to go smoke free.  This includes, bars, restaurants, private clubs, bowling centers and every other workplace.  The law does not prohibit local communities or counties to enact stronger ordinances.  Therefore, businesses in McLeod County and the City of Hutchinson should be informed about the provisions of their local ordinances.

The McLeod County Ordinance is stronger than the state in its penalties and in its distances from entrances.  For more information, see the McLeod Ordinance FAQ.

The Hutchinson City Ordinance is stronger than the state in its penalties, distances from entrances, outdoor patio restrictions and hotel/motel room restrictions.  For more information, see the Hutchinson Ordinance FAQ.

For more information, contact McLeod County Public Health at 320-864-3185.
